Marc Caron


Born in 1963, Marc is a French-Canadian living is Switzerland where he transitioned from life science research into management of healthcare projects and organisations.

After a short career in R&D, Marc indeed elected to manage pharmaceutical drug development at Covance, a Global Contract Research Organization (CRO). Starting as Project Manager, he then gradually took on more responsibilities as local, European and Global leader of Project Management Office where he led major process improvement initiatives. As senior manager, he afterwards implemented the process improvement system Lean-Six-Sigma in all worldwide operations.

After 12 years at Covance, Marc took on the opportunity to contribute more directly in the medical drug development by joining Debiopharm, a Swiss pharmaceutical company. He managed the early and the late development of many potential drugs; notably, the successful development of a Hepatitis C drug from pre-clinical work up to transition to phase III when out-licensed to Novartis. In addition to coach Project Managers, he also led initiatives leading to robust Project Management processes and development of licensing procedures. Finally, he crafted a corporate outsourcing strategy leading to better efficiency and cost reductions.

Since 2013, Marc is using his personal experience to help technical experts to transition into management roles. Apart than teaching at European University Business School, Marc is consulting healthcare organizations in their strategic choices, change management, project management and leadership coaching.

Marc has a BSc and MSc in Biology from Canadian Universities and a PhD from Lausanne University in Switzerland. Since then, Marc followed many management training, including Lean-Six-Sigma Black Belt and formal post-graduate studies in management and economy of healthcare organizations (Lausanne University) and Executive Development Programs from the world renowned business school IMD.
